Every app in the RAI suite is built on the same foundation. Four things we got right so the apps can stay light, fast, and yours.

On-device option

Every app can run its AI entirely on your phone. No network required, no cloud lock-in. We continuously roll in the best on-device models available.

Cloud, shielded

Real-time WebRTC voice. Premium reasoning models. ~150ms response — all routed through a shielded gateway that hides your identity and device from the AI provider. The fast lane is one toggle away, and we never default you into it.

Encrypted local memory

Conversations and context live in an encrypted vector database on your device. Search semantically. Back up if you want to. We don't read it.

No third-party tracking

No analytics SDKs. No ad networks. No crash reports phoning home to anyone outside Aerendir. We log only the request counts we need to enforce your plan's quota — never sold, never shared, never used to profile you.

What's RAI, exactly?+

RAI is a family of AI apps for Android, built by Aerendir. Two apps are shipping right now — RAI Assistant (voice-first AI assistant) and RAI Inbox (AI-powered email). Both share the same platform: on-device AI by default, or a shielded cloud gateway that anonymizes you when you want more power — either way, your data stays yours.

Which app should I start with?+

If you want a conversational AI you can talk to about anything, start with RAI Assistant. If you spend a lot of time on email and want AI replies, smart compose, and auto-categorization, start with RAI Inbox. They work great independently and even better together.

Why on-device AI?+

Three reasons. (1) Privacy — your data never has to leave your phone. (2) Reliability — it works without a network, on a plane, in a basement. (3) No lock-in — the model lives on your device, so we can swap in better local models as they ship without your data ever changing hands. And when you want more power, cloud mode is one toggle away — routed through a shielded gateway so your identity and device stay hidden from the AI provider.

Are the apps free?+

The apps are free during beta. On-device mode will stay free forever — no subscription, no usage caps. Cloud mode runs through our shielded gateway to paid model APIs; we may introduce a Pro tier for heavy cloud usage in the future, but the core experience will always have a fully-free, fully-local path.

Why isn't RAI on the Play Store?+

We're in open beta and Direct APK distribution lets us iterate faster — every push hits users instantly, no review queue. Play Store listings are on the roadmap once we cut stable 2.0 builds for both apps.

What about iOS or the web?+

Both in active development. iOS rebuilds are SwiftUI from the ground up, sharing the same memory format and toggle UX. Web companions will let you pick up conversations on your laptop and sync back to your phone.
